National Leadership
Mousumi Islam formed the Association of Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs, Bangladesh (AGWEB) with the mission of social and economic empowerment of underprivileged women through entrepreneurship development.
AGWEB works continuously for the development of grassroots-level entrepreneurs. It has taken young girls from underprivileged background through numerous stages of development, starting with skills training and progressing to etiquette and talent to conform with the modern world. Ms. Islam believes that grassroots-level leadership is at least as important for a nation as networking and collaboration at the higher levels of society.
Leaders of AGWEB provided constructive inputs to Bangladesh Bank’s monetary policy for women, and ensured that the disbursement criteria and interest rates of SME loans to women are suitable for grassroots entrepreneurs. As President of AGWEB, Ms. Islam attended various global summits highlighting women empowerment in the country.
Her tireless efforts for the grassroots have made Ms. Islam a prominent and respected influencer in Bangladesh. As the journey continues, her commitment to improving the lives of the underprivileged remains unwavering. Her role as a critical thinker and influencer not only shapes the development of medical equipment manufacturing in Bangladesh, but also serves as an inspiration for entrepreneurs and aspiring leaders in the healthcare sector.
